What Keto/Low-carb is to me. And what it's not.
It's NOT just a diet for weight loss. Yes, it's a 'DIET', any way of eating (WOE) is our diet, but it's a diet (WOE) to improve health, to control and treat certain ailments. High blood pressure, high blood sugar, inflammation, infections, fatty liver, chronic fatigue, headaches.
There's different types of Keto - strict, lazy, dirty, combinations of dirty/lazy - but whatever way you do it, the basic idea is the same.
High fat.
Moderate protein.
Low carb.
It doesn't have to be complicated.
Pick a protein, add a veggie or two, add a healthy fat. There are some awesome low carb recipes that help keep me on track, and I don't feel like I'm missing out on anything.
I usually only count net carbs, and I try to keep them below 30 a day. That's not difficult to do when you're not eating processed foods and sugar.
